2026 IGBA – Confederation of International Gloster Breeders Relationship – Part II

2026 IGBA – Confederation of International Gloster Breeders Relationship – Part II

We are almost six months on from the March AGM where 86% of attending members supported a move to reconstruct the association.

The question then was how and what will the future look like? Well see the illustration previously published showing a Governing Section and the current IGBA  Activity Section

Finally the IGBA has affiliated to the Confederation of International Gloster Breeders {CIGB} with Shaun Gardiner our representative  attending  its first meeting on the 21st of August 2026.

The IGBA has one representative on the CIGB Board the person holding that position until ratification at the March 2027 AGM is Shaun Gardiner of Theale, Reading.

Through the IGBA representative the CIGB has made it clear to all its affiliates that to make this body work effectively they need to embrace the need to come forward with Gloster related items that identify a need for discussion, action, agreement and eventual implementation at CIGB meetings. With that in mind the CIGB has already received proposals from two affiliates requesting a review of the Gloster Canary Standard. The objective of these proposals is to produce a pictorial interpretation that, following international consultation, will be agreed and accepted globally.

Shaun advises the IGBA that the CIGB is seeking pictorial imagery of the Gloster Fancy Canary from all its affiliates to assist in developing a globally agreed standard for the breed. IGBA Members wanting to assist are invited to contribute suitable imagery as part of this international process to Shaun Gardiner at admin@igba.co.uk.

Shaun Gardiner, from Theale, Reading in West Berkshire was a recent addition to the IGBA Committee. In line with our rules Shaun has resigned from the IGBA committee to become the IGBA representative on the CIGB Board.

The question then was how and what will the future look like?

One of Change: defined as “replace (something) with something else, something that is newer or better; substitute one thing for (another)”

The one thing that was made abundantly clear at the outset regarding this decision, was that the IGBA will use its banner to bring international recognition and harmony to a new future governing body.

The IGBA has split into 2 parts with a new sector, a body governance called the Confederation of International Gloster Breeders {CIGB} sitting underneath the IGBA Umbrella as a separate autonomous group, with NO outside influence from the existing or future IGBA committee or its members.

Different name, Different committee / steering group officers, a democratic, transparent organisation devoted to Governance having the freedom to govern itself,  control its own affairs, acting in accordance with its moral duty rather than personal desires.

There has been and still is much misinformation about the restructuring.  the simple format is as shown.

The CIGB feeds off the respected name of the IGBA which has restructured into two separate autonomous sections – One devoted to Governance; One Devoted to pursuing its current activities.

  • The format for the Confederation of International Gloster Breeders (CIGB) is an amalgam of Gloster Clubs / Societies / Associations / Organisations from throughout the world.

Gloster Clubs / Societies / Associations / Organisations join the CIGB in one of two ways:

1) As fully paid affiliates of the IGBA which will get that organisation a seat on the Governing body

2) As a Gloster Club / Society / Association / Organisation that does not want IGBA affiliation but wants a voice on world Gloster affairs.

  • Each affiliated society provides one elected representative to the CIGB.
  • Each affiliated society has one vote within the CIGB.

Where and when necessary the CIGB can call on the administration resources of the IGBA for assistance.
