Swansea Gloster Society 2021 All Gloster Show.

At long last we were able to hold our 10th show, lucky all our members were doubled jabbed. The weather was cold with blue skies all day, we have been very lucky with the weather the last ten years.

We would like to thank George Thompson for judging all the 246 birds by himself. He went through them well and was finished by 1:00 o’clock we would also like to thank George for donating a pair of birds for club funds and also thanks for not claiming any expenses.

Brian Skeffington and Darren Gill were the eventual winners with a lovely blue / white unflighted corona hen with excellent quality and type. Best opposite head was again awarded to Brian and Darren with a lovely buff variegated unflighted consort cock, which was the brother to the winner.

Brian and Darren also won best buff, best yellow, best cinnamon, best blue /white and best grizzel they went on to win 24 classes out of the 31. Well done guys. The only ones to stop a clean sweep were Graham Beech and Paul Brown with a lovely three parts dark unflighted corona cock. They won four firsts, Ray Popham one first, Ray and Carroll Lootes one first, and John Richards one first.

In the novice section best novice was won by Steve Hill with a lovely unflighted cinnamon corona hen. Steve also won best opposite head with a flighted three parts dark consort hen, best buff, best three parts dark, best cinnamon, best blue / white and best grizzel. Steve took 13 first’s, Roy Henry took the other two.

Breakfast was dished out between 8:00 and 9:30 with 18 members sitting down for a good nosh up. Later in the afternoon 50 members sat down for a chicken dinner with all the trimmings followed by strawberry trifle. I don’t know where they put it all, they were like stuffed turkeys.

Swansea GS would like to thank Countrywide for donating 2 bags of premier Canary seed, to Domonic Avo for all his help and for lending us the staging, to Les Nichols, Steve Hill, Dave Thomas and Alan Neale for their donations for club funds, Andrew and Dani in the kitchen for cooking all the breakfasts and dinners and supplying tea and coffee and biscuits free all day to everybody, and finally  Jason, Steve, Roy and Peter for all their help on the day

We appreciate Brian and Darren and Steve for donating back trophies and rosettes. Special thanks to and a very special thanks to all our members for their support, without you we could not have a show. Next year show will be on Sunday the 6th of November 2022, we hope to see you all again

Well as Bugs Bunny said “ That’s all for now folks” have a great breeding season mite free
