New Partnership Excels at Kent Gloster Society Show – October 2nd 2021

A substantial entry of 398 birds were entered at the Kent Gloster clubshow held on 2nd October 2021. Being the first all Gloster show since December 2019, the entry was boosted by a larger than normal number of flighted birds having their first outing on the show bench.

It was also the first show for the newly formed Champion partnership of renowned fanciers Brian Skeffington and Darren Gill, and what a debut they had. Brian and Darren annexed the majority of the major awards and had no less than fourteen class winners.

Judges Brian and Phil Durrell had little hesitation in awarding best in show to Brian and Darren’s Unflighted TPD Corona Hen which excelled in type and feather quality. Their Unflighted Buff Consort Hen was of the same stamp and was duly awarded best opposite head.

A

Novice section of over fifty birds was dominated by a strong team entered by Shaun Gardiner. Shaun’s Best Novice exhibit was an Unflighted Buff Corona which showed exceptional quality and was a credit to him. Best Novice Opposite was awarded to a lovely Unflighted TPD Consort Hen benched by Rick Lamb.

The Kent Gloster ring scheme classes again created much competition, Eddie Wells winning Best Ring Scheme bird, closely contested by Fred Riches in second place with Best Opposite Head.

On behalf of the Kent Gloster committee, I would like to thank our judges Brian and Phil Durrell and all exhibitors who made the show such an enjoyable event. Special thanks to Fergus McCarthy who organised the catering and donated all the supplies and profit to club funds.

After a difficult couple of years, it was good to be back showing again and meeting fellow fanciers.

Major award winners were as follows: –

Brian Skeffington & Darren Gill Best Gloster, Best Opposite Head, Best Green, Best Champion Green Corona, Best Buff, Best Champion Buff Corona, Best Champion Buff Consort, Best White, Best Grizzle.
