Bumper Entry at Kent Gloster Society Show – October 2022

A bumper entry of 496 birds were entered at the Kent Gloster club show held on 1st October 2022. The entry was boosted by three large teams of birds from the partnerships of Skeffington & Gill, Goddard & Rands and Rose & McCarthy. All three partnerships had a good show annexing most of the champion classes. Ultimately it was Brian Skeffingdon and Darren Gill who won the major awards of Best Gloster and Best Opposite Head included amongst their total of 10 class winners.

Judges Paul Burnett and George Thompson awarded best in show to Brian and Darren’s impressive Flighted Cinnamon Corona Hen with Best Opposite Head going to an Unflighted Consort Cock of similar type.

Other birds of note, which were in contention in a fine line up of class winners were Alan Middlemiss’s Fawn Corona Hen, Paul Newark’s Buff Corona Hen, and a Yellow Corona Cock from the partnership of Mick Rose and Kevin McCarthy.

A novice section of over fifty birds was graced by a strong team entered by Mitchell Cowen. Mitch’s Best Novice exhibit was a sweet Unflighted TPD Corona which showed exceptional quality and was a credit to him. Best Novice Opposite was awarded to a neat Unflighted TPD Consort Hen benched by Kevin Wilkins.

The Kent Gloster ring scheme classes again created much competition with a total of 18 birds in the two classes, Steve Bovingdon winning Best Ring Scheme bird, closely contested by Keith Baker with Best Opposite Head.

On behalf of the Kent Gloster committee, I would like to thank our judges Paul Burnett and George Thompson and all exhibitors who made the show such an enjoyable event.
