GREEK GLOSTER CLUB

13th Annual Show

This year I had the pleasure of being invited to judge the Greek Gloster Show organised by the Greek Gloster Club held in Athens, Greece.

Four hundred and fifty of high quality glosters entered with a good mix in champion and novice classes.

The show was on a Saturday 16th December 2023 and judging commenced around 10:00am. Stewarding was satisfactory with judging being concluded around 16:00pm.

It was a dull day so natural light didn’t help very much.

Many of the birds shown were short, small and cobby with very good colour and feather quality.

Strong teams with high quality from Sotiris Fasoulis and Fotis Stathopoulos were entered.

Sotiris Fasoulis came out on top winning Best Gloster with a light variegated corona and Best Consort with a three parts dark consort cock. Both birds had good type, colour and feather quality.

Fasoulis also won best flighted with a very typey cinnamon corona hen with good feather and colour.

Best heavy variegated was a strong buff corona hen from Fotis Stathopoulos which also had very good feather quality and colour.

Again, both novice specials were from the same breeder owner Makis Mpilos with good colour and feather quality.

Hope you all keep up the good work with your glosters and keep on breeding small birds with short tails and wings with good colour and feather quality.
