2022 Walsall CBS Show

At the end of the 2021 Walsall CBS show, judge Craig Biddle put forward the idea of IGBA patronage to the Show Secretary as he was impressed with the hall and the general atmosphere, so at the next Bi Weekly Walsall CBS meeting we put it to the vote to go for it or not and it was unanimous that we should go forward but we would need some help from exhibitors in that section.

Gary Carnall and Mitch Cowen were keen on the idea and offered to step in with that help and went above and beyond donating to the specials for the Section.  They are doing something similar for the 2023 show but with a twist, but the ideas on that have yet still to be worked on so watch this space.

With the show staging all set up, we soon found that our show planning didn’t quite work out so we left ourselves a little short on staging for the last few birds but we improvised and brought in a spare judging stand to help with the short fall , but hey ho, we learn from our mistakes and it will only get better.

We got off to a decent start with 151 Glosters entered, although we did expect a bigger number as it was our first year with full IGBA patronage.

While judging sheets were being printed we received a call from our appointed Judge Adrian short who explained he was having car trouble and would be a little late so the show manager Kevin Moylan decided to get things underway by asking Craig and Jackie Biddle to step in and start judging the Novice classes which worked perfectly.  Adrian arrived and took over the judging stands and it all went swimmingly from then on.

John Cronin took the top Honours with Best Champion and Best Gloster Exhibit with his buff 75% Dark to 25% light Self Or Foul Green Corona. He also took Best Champion Opposite Head.

Peter Goodley had the Rosette for the Best Champion Yellow, White, Cinnamon, Grizzle Corona.

Gary Carnall took the Rosette for the Best Champion Yellow, White, Cinnamon Consort.

The Novice Section was an impressive result for Mitch Cowen who simply won all the Novice patronage rosettes with a small number of birds entered .

Apart from the above incorporated specials Gary Carnall had Best Champion White, and Mitch Cowen had the Best Opposite Head exhibit with his Buff Green  Consort Cock.

We have had good feedback from the Gloster exhibitors and visitors to the show so hopefully the word will be passed on; we have got the new IGBA 2023 CBS points championship to look forward to so hopefully that will have a good impact on Gloster entries..

Hope you all have a great breeding season and you are spoiled for choice on your show team.
