2022 South Coast All Gloster

The South Coast All Gloster, Alan Mant Memorial Show 2022.

The 2022 South Coast All Gloster Show was designated as the Alan Mant memorial show. Alan passed away during the year and as well as being the club president. He was also an enthusiastic and committed member of the South Coast team throughout its entire history. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

The show attracted exhibitors from far and wide and this support is fully appreciated by the show organisers.

A special mention must be made to novice exhibitor John Roskell who travelled all the way from Lockerbie in Scotland to exhibit. John, we salute your dedication.

Top Dutch judges Bert Munneke and Ben Mense had their work cut out with an excellent entry of 587 birds to judge. This was the highest entry in over twenty years.

The International Gloster Breeders Association deserve a pat on the back. Their national points competition implemented by them certainly played a big part in increasing the entry. They should be applauded for an initiative that promotes and enhances the Gloster show scene, well done.

With many of the country’s leading fanciers in attendance, competition was highly competitive across all classes. After much deliberation, Best in Show was awarded to a Blue Corona bred and shown by G, Nicol. A superb example and a well-deserved win.

Despite strong contention from the Champion consort, it was novice exhibitor Mitchell Cowen that achieved the award for best opposite head in show, with a lovely consort. Another well deserved win at his first ever South Coast show.

NOVICE SECTION.

The Novice section was, once again, tightly contested with many outstanding birds on view.

Best Novice in Show was a wonderful consort benched by Mitchell Cowen. This exhibitor also took the award for best novice opposite head with a superb TPD corona hen. Making his long trip down from Staffordshire well worthwhile. Well done.

BEST JUNIOR IN SHOW.

We were delighted to attract junior entries for the first time in a while.

Best Junior Maria Perryman and 2nd Best junior Maria Perryman. We wish Maria all the best with her birds,

The show organisers would like to extend their thanks to all the following.

Our judges Bert Munneke and Ben Mense, thank you gentlemen for doing a superb job, well done. Also thank you both for donating a big part of your expenses back to club funds, a wonderful gesture, it is greatly appreciated.

Our Ladies in the kitchen. They are the backbone of what we do, Being there from crack of dawn to closing time supplying us with hot breakfasts, and roast lunches essential when the exhibitors travel so far and keeping us all going throughout the day. The profit that you make makes a huge difference to club funds, Thank you.

The exhibitors for continuing to support the show. Thank you one and all, you ARE the show.

On a closing note. The fact that we received our highest entry in over twenty years at the memorial show for Alan Mant was a wonderful tribute to his life with Glosters. Thank you all for making it possible. “ALAN, THAT ONE WAS FOR YOU, YOUR LEGACY CONTINUES”
