Morocco Hosts Its Largest Ever Gloster Canary Competition

The city of Agadir hosted the first edition of the Moroccan Gloster Cup on November 14th, 15th, and 16th, 2025, marking a historic event in the Moroccan Gloster scene.

inaugural edition attracted widespread attention from local and international breeders, setting a record number of entries with 478 birds, the highest in the history of Moroccan Gloster breeding.

The judging was conducted by French judge Stéphane Burdin, an esteemed IGBA member, whose expertise ensured a professional and internationally recognized evaluation of all participating birds.

Competition Atmosphere

The three-day event took place in a friendly and sophisticated environment, fostering interaction and knowledge exchange among breeders and enthusiasts. The organization by the Moroccan Gloster Canary Club demonstrated a high level of professionalism, from cage arrangement and event setup to ensuring the comfort and well-being of both birds and participants.

The official results, reflecting the highest standards of Gloster judging, were as follows:

1. Best in Show: Hamada Bakour

2. Best Opposite: Nabil Bougtaya

3. Best Buff: Nabil Bougtaya

4. Best TPD: Nabil Bougtaya

5. Best Clear: Nabil Bougtaya

6. Best Cinnamon: Eddami Saifddine

7. Best Yellow: Adil Legmaira

8. Best White: Hamada Bakour

9. Best Grizzlé: Siteli Mustapha

Several breeders excelled by winning multiple categories, reflecting both the quality of their birds and their dedication to the hobby. Attendees enthusiastically followed each category, contributing to an engaging and lively competition.

Significance of the First Edition

This inaugural Moroccan Gloster Cup represents a major milestone in the development of Gloster breeding in Morocco. It highlighted the ability of local breeders to produce birds of international standard, while promoting fair competition and a spirit of camaraderie. Furthermore, the event facilitated knowledge transfer from international judges to the local breeding community, helping to raise overall breeding standards.

Conclusion

The first Moroccan Gloster Cup left a strong impression on all participants, proving that Morocco is capable of organizing world-class Gloster competitions while maintaining a warm and cooperative atmosphere. The event sets a high benchmark for future editions, which are expected to be even larger, better organized, and more influential in promoting Gloster breeding excellence in Morocco.
