When you do not need to register
You do not need to register psittaciformes or passeriformes (such as budgies, parrots, cockatiels and finches) if they are both:
- fully housed in a dwelling (your home or another indoor structure)
- with no access to the open air
When you do need to register
You must register if you take your birds outdoors at any time – for example, to exercise or train them, or to take them to bird gatherings or shows.
Bird show organiser obligations & requirements.
It will be the responsibility of the organisers of any bird gathering to ensure that entrants to that gathering have an official authorised registration number. If the entrant cannot supply that number their entry must be declined.
If an inspection of the event by a government official takes place and it is found that entrants do not have a registration number, then the organisers will be liable to prosecution, heavy fines.

NO REGISTRATION NUMBER YOUR ENTRY WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED UNTIL YOU HAVE ONE.
Your registration is the acceptance of Apha being able to instantly advise bird keepers of avian infection and your responsibility to assist in reducing the spread of a deadly disease. Nothing more Nothing less.
