Round 8 Final Round South Coast All Gloster
As with every year before, the All Gloster show season terminates on 1st December with the South Coast All Gloster event in Chichester.
Running into the final event the Carlisle partnership of Burton & Reay were once again proving untouchable with 750 points ; 500 ahead of nearest rival George Nicol, at the head of the Champions table. Retaining their crown for a second year mirrored Skeffington and Gills 2021/2 achievement and begs a question can they go one step further and make it 3 in a row?
The more interesting question surrounded second and third places where George Nicol was 10 points ahead of Pete Bull …Would George be able to get to the south coast to meet Pete on his “home ground”?
Pete was looking to add a third accolade to his previous Best Gloster’s at Kent and Southern shows.
Unfortunately this head to head was not to be, George being unable to make the trip from Lincolnshire to WestSussex, leaving Peter clearto make an impact if Judges Keith Baker and Martyn Fairfield. deemed his birds worthy of attention.
Well they did Best Gloster, Champion, TPD, Cinnamon, White produced 110 points to push Pete into second place overall.
Jean Mant Best champ Opp Head, Grizzle / AOC /Light and Paul Newark Best Buff & Yellow drew judges attention to avoiod Pete sweeping the southern area awards for a third time.
Contenders for the Overall Novice top spot was reasonably thoughtto be between M Lowe, A Hutton, and K Brockwell, again the question was who would attend. SCAG? Well the answer was only Albert Hutton, so a 20 point gap might be easy to bridge.
Matt Fitter travelling from the Midlands tried his best to rain on Alberts parade being justifiably rewarded with Best Novice and T.P.D. Worcester partnership of Butler & Hook took Best Novice Grizzle/AOC/Light: A Keay Novice Buff, leaving Novice Opposite head, Yellow,Cinnamon,White with Albert Hutton. These 50 points were sufficient to push Albert Hutton to the top of the Novice leader board with 210 points 30 ahead of M Lowe.
Junior saw Maria Perryman take the Best Junior awards and finishing her ’24 campaign on 100 points in second place to Charley Roome on 220.
Thanks to all exhibitors for contributing to another competitive year, good luck for a successful 2025 breeding season and set your expectations for another competitive 2025 IGBA British Championship.

Round 5 – West Midland Gloster inc Midland GFCC. Another long but successful journey south to the Midlands pushed Burton and Reay further a head of P Bull of the IOW and I Chamberlain in second and third places on the Champion table. Novice S McMullen took the majority of awards at WMGA pushing him into third spot on the Novice table 560 points behind leader A Hutton.
Round 4 – Yorkshire and North of Scotland once again Burton & Reay dominated the awards sending them further ahead in points at the top of the champion’s table. Scottish members Messrs Hay and Shepard joined the table. Novices A Hutton and A Armitage are separated by 10 points at the top of the Novice leader board.
Round 3 Weekend 19th / 20th October IGBA and Southern once again Burton & Reay dominated the IGBA awards sending them further ahead in points at the top of the champion’s table. George Nicol’s team brought him onto the table for the first time. Charley Roome took the mantle of Best Junior. One week later Pete Bull took his reserve team to the Southern with to use his words “no expectation of anything” only to be surprised with a continuation of his winning streak.
Round 2 Saw Northern Gloster and Yorkshire Fife and Gloster vying for exhibtors on the same weekend. Last years Champs Burton & Reay opened their title defence with a clear victory at “The Northern” amassing 150 points, sending them to the top of the table, 40 points head of second place Pete Bull. Ian Chamberlain opened his campaign at Yorkshire Fife Gloster with Best Gloster awards, Goddard and Rands, C& J Biddle, A Short all making their first appearance on the league table. Relative newcomer to exhibiting Novice Andrew Armitage benched a strong team at YF&G to surge ahead of the Novice Championship followed by last year winner M Cowen.
The search for the 2024 British Champion of Champions and Champion of Novices started on the first weekend of October with Kent Gloster leading the way.
The dominant exhibitor turned out to be Peter Bull of East Cowes, Isle of Wight taking all but 4 awards. With the upcoming Northern Gloster [13th October] and the Premier All Gloster IGBA Show approaching on the 19th/20th October it will be interesting to see if Peter can hold his leading position .
Matt Fitter and Albert Hutton go into Round 2 of the Novice Section in joint first position.
A full Kent Report and Statistics will be published as soon as possible.
