Milan Italy 2022 – Darren Gill

Milan Italy 2022 – Darren Gill

In November 2022, I had the pleasure of adjudicating for a second time at the Show in Milano Italy.

My fellow judges were Mario Farrugia from Malta, and the Legend and former IGBA President we have all come to know and love, Bert Munneke from Holland, both true Gentlemen and a pleasure to Judge with.

Our stay was organised by my good friend Luca Piarulli. I want to take the opportunity of thanking Luca, Alessandra, Gavi and Fulvio,  for everything they did but especially their hospitality.

Ok, on to the Show!

No fewer than 650 Glosters were benched.

All of the major forces in Italian Glosters were there to try to win this prestigious competition.

There were Teams from Pietro Tellaroli and his partner Mauricio Rincarati,  Vincenzo Scardina, Francesco Petti, Domenico Borelli, Gavi Simula, Pino Trovato!

From outside of Italy a Super Team from Sotiris Fasoulis, Sotiris made the incredible Journey from Greece!!

After a long tough day Judging the classes, we got on to the business of finding the Best Gloster, and major award winners.

Some of the Exhibitors, Organisers, Judges and of course the beautiful Alessandra and Lillo!!

It was very difficult, there were many Birds worthy of winning Best Gloster, in the UF TPD Corona Hen Class, Mario Farrugia had a very difficult decision, the first 9 exhibits could have all been worthy winners of the class.

In the Champion Corona line up, it was between a sweet very well balanced unflighted TPD Corona Hen and an Unflighted TPD Corona Cock, the latter going on to win Best Corona, both belonging to Pino Trovato, this Cock was, for me, the Best Corona Cock I saw in 2022!!

A Phenomenal example!!

Best Corona and Best Gloster in Show….Pino Trovato!!
Best Consort in Show……Pino Trovato!

Moving on to the Consorts, again it was very difficult decision between a beautiful unflighted Consort Hen belonging to Pino Trovato, and a very well balanced unflighted Consort Cock belonging to Sotiris Fasoulis. Eventually it was decided the Hen was Best Consort giving Pino a clean sweep!

Sotiris winning Best Opposite Sex Consort in Show, making his mammoth journey worthwhile!

In the Novice section, Best Novice Gloster and Best Novice Consort was won by Daniel Sonzogni, Best Novice Corona belonged to Ferruccio Gamba.

It is always a pleasure to Judge in Italy, I cannot wait to return to this beautiful Country!
