2022 British Championship – Round 8

2022 British Championship – Round 8

South Coast, early December, fingers crossed for an Avian Influenza free venue at North Mundham Chichester. Not to be disappointed overseas judges Bert Munneke and Ben Mense would determine which of the nearly 600 exhibits would grace the awards and affect the overall league standings.

The decision by George Nicol to make the long journey to compete alongside Skeffington & Gill, Rose & McCarthy, Alan Middlemiss, saw 4 of the top 6 league champions go head to head to determine the final top Champion Spot.

Mitch Cowen and John Roskell would fight it out for top Novice position.

In both camps the decision to exhibit was a good one with George Nicol the top Champion exhibitor on the day pulling himself just marginally short of the top spot by a mere 30 points.

Mitch Cowen would be glad he decided to exhibit taking top Novice spot with a quality team that on the day put him top of the leader board of  Champion of Novices by the narrowest of margins (10 points) ahead of John Roskell.

Post event scrutiny of overall  Novice results has identified that John Roskell had not been credited a previous colour award, creating a tie for first place as Champion of Novices.

The 2023 exhibition period of October – December has delivered an interesting Championship with no one individual or partnership dominating throughout the period. Congratulations go to Skeffington & Gill for retaining their crown and newcomers Mitchell Cowen and John Roskell for succeeding in their first full year of competition to top the Champion of Novice Exhibitors.

WHO WON WHAT WHERE ?

To make things a little easier to identify the answer  …..  this table might help.
