2022 British Championship – Round 1

2022 British Championship – Round 1

The search for the 2022 British Champion of Champions and Champion of Novices started on the first weekend of October with back to back shows at Kent on the first and Stafford on the second.

Kent saw the champion partnership of Skeffington & Gill bench a strong team oozing  quality, start off where they left off in 2021 taking the majority of top table awards and picking up  130 points. Next  closest Champions being Mick Rose and Kevin McCarthy , Alan Middlemiss and Paul Newark all on 10 points.

Their lead going into round 2 is at best slim compared to last year when they had a big lead that lasted throughout the exhibition season.

The Burton & Reay partnership, chose the North Staffs & South Cheshire GCC venue  Parrot Society  National Cage Bird exhibition at Stafford to start their challenge for securing the accolade of 2022 Champion of Champions.

Their stand out team had a great day claiming the Best Gloster, Best Corona, Best Champion, Best TPD, Best AOC and their Blue went on to be judged the Best Blue Canary in Show.

Burton & Ray now run into their area show “Northern Gloster FCC” with 100 points and the likelihood that they will increase that tally.

Everything is stacking up to be an interesting race for 2022 Champion of Champions.

On the Novice front Mitch Cowen decided to enter  Kent for the first time and took the majority of awards, including Best Novice.

His trip way down south was immediately followed by the inaugural North Staffs and South Cheshire Gloster CC  event at Stafford. The positive weekend sees Mitch at the top of the Novice League with 130 point a clear lead over second placed S Hill  with 50 .
