It appears that the current Committee is not prepared to dwell in the past nor let its current impetus in providing something different for its members to slow down. Adrian Short – UK Affiliation /Patronage and Event coordinator is on a roll introducing, with full committee backing, a new initiative.
The IGBA is on a mission to find and crown the UK Champion of Champion and Champion of Novice Exhibitors over a full season of All Gloster Exhibitions.
It will run on a league principle with every exhibitors who enters any All Gloster Affiliate Association show being awarded points in order to gain that elusive title.
Season long, exhibitors will amass points for Best Gloster (50) Best Champion (30) Best Novice (30) Best Junior (30) with Best Colours (10) and Buff and 3/4 Dark Corona & Consort also gaining 10 points.
Class positions will also be awarded points thereby giving every exhibitor the chance to appear on the leader board in any particular year.
The object, apart from identifying an ultimate Best Champion and Best Novice Exhibitor is 1) to encourage existing exhibitors to attend and support as many All Gloster events as they can. The more exhibitions one enters, the greater the chance of being at the top of the league and 2) to encourage new exhibitors to take part in friendly competition.
Some might say its nothing new, we used to have that when the IGBA was identified with different areas. Well yes that is quite possibly true, so we know it worked in the halcyon days of exhibiting so let’s bring it back to make exhibiting that little bit more exciting.
There will be 2 leagues , Champion and Novice, with the top of the leader board on the 31st December receiving a trophy at the following year AGM.
Of course right at this time with Import restrictions on Continental exhibitors engaging in UK shows being at a low point, and indeed UK exhibitors showing abroad, there is recognition that our Overseas members need due consideration. In that regard there are other interesting initiatives being worked on and brought to the table for committee consideration and review which will encompass continental membership.
Not to leave Gloster sections at CBS events out of the reckoning, Adrian is working on how stimulus can be given to these societies to increase Gloster exhibit numbers and include their results in the leagues.
So come on all you avid Gloster Fancy Canary Breeders / Exhibitors and Clubs across the world join the IGBA and take part in an exciting rebirth of the Worlds Premier Gloster Organisation determined to make a difference to the fancy. Support this one of many initiatives put your birds on the bench in as many AG’s as possible for all to see. “You’ve got to be in it to win it”
IGBA is doing its very best to provide you with a stimulating organisation, it needs your positive engagement to ensure Gloster Fancy success.
Remember that the total effectiveness of a group of things (Gloster Breeder / Exhibitors) each interacting with one another is different or greater than their effectiveness when acting in isolation from one another.
