After the disappointment of not being able to build upon the success of the 2019 Premier All Gloster event, we have set out our stall to return to competition in 2021.
2019 was a bumper year where entries from both UK and European exhibitors increased to 1185. No need to remind anyone that 2020 was a complete disaster on every count…BUT hopefully, with relaxed Government Coronavirus restrictions and providing everyone is sensible about retaining due vigilance procedures at the event, the Premier All Gloster Show will return on October 16 / 17.
Forever the optimists some time ago the committee started moving positively, the first obstacle was to seek a location. Trying to book the show venue in the prior year’s central location of Nuneaton Warwickshire proved problematic for a number of reasons.
OK, not a problem, sleeves rolled up and the group set about looking for similar venues in a central location with specific criteria being – 2 day availability in October, substantial car parking, close proximity hotel accommodation, easy direct motorway access, on site catering facilities as a minimum. Not an easy task when research determines school halls are unavailable, venues are OK but no parking. However finally somewhere was found that ticked all the boxes except it was not in the Centre of England, it was further north in Chesterfield.
So the big question was did the IGBA take the option available to it, move the event for this year and continue researching central locations for 2022, or quite possibly have another blank show year?
After intense discussion the unanimous committee decision was to book the venue “a bird in the hand” (pun intended) was better than scratching around looking for a more central venue that may not be available or even exist. The need to hold a show, if humanly possible, was never an issue with the committee, it was a no-brainer decision.
It is to be hoped that ALL exhibitors, be they in the North, South, East, West of the British Isles will understand the difficult decision taken on the Venue location, and will do their very best to enter the World’s Premier All Gloster Show. That may mean combining together to transport exhibits or even clubbing together to hire group transport to make it a weekend outing.
All that being said Gloster Breeders and Exhibitors, IGBA 2021 will be going ahead. Sadly unless there is a massive last minute turn round on entry requirements to the UK, without our Continental compatriots, to whom we send the following message “Stay Safe and Well, fingers crossed we will meet in friendly competition at IGBA2022” .
If it becomes necessary (we hope not) to pull the event for another year due to Human or Bird virus issues only time will tell and then so be it, but that is the furthest from our minds at this time, all systems are go.
The event will adhere to all Government and local regulations in respect of making it a Covid Safe event.
Date: 16 / 17 October 2021

This will be the first time that 2020 young will see the show bench, their Unflighted year not materialising so we can only hope that the Flighted classes will be crammed with exhibits. The outcome of this year’s breeding, as always, will be eagerly awaited with every breeder hoping their youngsters catch the judge’s eye for one of those coveted red cards and ultimately a “Best” award.
So with Venue booked, Staging arranged and Judges engaged – K Baker (Kent) P Durrell (Suffolk) E McCombe (Co. Down) B Tarrant (Staffordshire) and Gregor Potts (Germany) – Rosettes, Trophies, Certificates, Awards all in place it just needs you the exhibitor to put the date and venue in your diary and commit to entering the World’s Premier must win All Gloster exhibition.
